Web Content Guidelines
Preparing Text
Before Avallo starts designing your website, you will need to gather web content. This can include written text, digital files, forms, video clips and animations.
Your sitemap is set to provide you with a "bird's eye view" of what contents to get for each page. Follow the site map and put the following content into folders labeled with name that matches the site map:
- Text written by copywriter with search engine optimization in mind. We have copywriters ready to help you if needed.
- Images that best support what you are trying to communicate. Anything from diagrams, pie charts, and abstract images to real-life photographs.
- Never get pictures from other websites or use stock photos that have not been purchased. They are copyright protected.
Avallo accepts text in all Microsoft Word formats, Excel, pdf, raw text, or e-mail text. We will hand type scanned or printed pieces for an additional charge. (see standard rates)
Text is very important for search engine optimization. Avallo can provide all information needed for SEO if needed. If doing it yourself, make sure the following text is included in each folder:
- Photo callouts and photo meta data (photo descriptions) labeled by photo #
- Titles for each page
- Descriptive sentence for each page
- List of keywords for each page
Preparing Photos
Avallo will take pictures in any format or we can scan printed pieces. (Photoshop, jpeg, tif, eps or pdf.) We prefer that they are high resolution (at least 300 dpi) but high quality low resolution images are acceptable as well. Up to three digital or scan files per page are included in the quote (unless otherwise specified). Additional photos are billed at our standard production rates.
Photos available in Avallo's archives are always included for free. Other stock photos purchased are resold at a 10% markup to cover searching time, color correction and photo editing.
Photos should be numbered and placed in the folder of page in which they should be placed. (This page should also be labeled.)
